In his installation Mit alles, Salmo Albatal poses the question “What remains?”. Closely linked to questions about the meaning of life, this question has always remained unanswered.

Inspired by the architectural history of the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Albatal explores memories and creates bridges and new connections between them. In a setting reminiscent of a restaurant, the installation Mit alles intertwines the history of the original building, which was heavily damaged during World War II, with that of the structure rebuilt in 1967, as it stands today on Grabbeplatz. The exterior and interior of the building merge; different cultures and social milieus come together. The parking garage as a non-place, a space without identity, becomes a repository of memories.

Salmo Albatal studied architecture under Prof. Inge Vinck and Prof. Donatella Fioretti at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and graduated in 2023.
