Brazilian artist Miguel Rio Branco’s often visceral work holds a sensuality and vitality that has rewarded him with international acclaim as both a photographer and filmmaker. As stated by renowned curator and critic Octavio Zaya, “In the work of Rio Branco the image is never a finished entity, but a relationship ... In this way, the image can never be completed, and when an image is made, it is by definition always open to change.” Rio Branco’s work is part of permanent collections all over the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The George Pompidou Center in Paris and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
