WE, tête
tête wird zwei und macht weiter!
Nach zwei abwechslungsreichen Jahren wird tête erstmals nach außen hin als Gruppe aktiv und feiert den Abschluss seiner Startphase mit einer Ausstellung, in der ausschließlich tête-Mitglieder vertreten sind. "WE, tête" stellt dabei nicht nur die verschiedenen künstlerischen Positionen vor, sondern spiegelt gleichsam auch das, was uns verbindet: tête als generöser Raum sowie als Denkmodell.
tête bedeutet offen zu sein für Neues, für Andere, für Fremde. tête setzt sich nicht aus einer geschlossenen homogenen Gruppe zusammen, sondern aus Individuen, die jeweils eigenverantwortlich einen Monat im Projektraum organisieren. An die Stelle basisdemokratischer Entscheidungen tritt Autonomie in der, sowie Respekt für die Arbeit der Einzelnen. Dieses Konzept bringt mit sich, dass tête keinem bestimmbaren Ziel folgt, kein strukturiertes Programm hat oder eine ‚brand’ bildet. Unsere Diversität ist unsere Stärke und so werden wir den tête-Ansatz nach der gemeinsamen Ausstellung weiterverfolgen.
Als Ausnahme von der Regel versucht "WE, tête", unsere Idee von tête erfahrbar zu machen. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Begegnung, der Austausch: tête als sozialer Raum. tête ist ohne sein Publikum nicht denkbar, was die zahlreichen Portraits – seien es konkrete, von Freunden oder Aktmodellen, oder von anonymen Stellvertreter – spiegeln. Die beiden für die Ausstellung geschaffenen Raumarbeiten vermögen tête besonders gut zu charakterisieren. Adrian Schiessers Sound-Installation verweist durch die Flughafenansagen in verschiedenen Sprachen auf die Internationalität unserer Gruppe wie des Publikums, ebenso wie sie unsere An- und Abwesenheit, das ständige In-flux-Sein thematisiert. Julien Villarets Upcycling von eigenen Katalogen zu einer Hängematte schließlich feiert die Abkehr vom Ego, den Blick nach vorne und lädt spielerisch zur Partizipation, Interaktion: zum Austausch ein.

tête is turning two and keeps going
After two exciting years, tête acts for the first time as a group, and celebrates the end of its booster phase with an exhibition showcasing tête members only. "WE, tête" does not just present different artistic positions, but also mirrors what joins us: tête, both as a generous space and as a model of thinking.
tête means to be open for the new, the other, the foreign. tête doesn’t consist of a closed homogeneous group but of individuals that run the project space each month independently. In place of democratic decisions there’s autonomy in, and respect for the work of the individual. This concept implies that tête doesn’t follow a specific goal, doesn’t have a structured program nor has created a ‘brand‘. Our diversity is our strength. Thus, we will continue to follow our tête-approach after the collective exhibition again.
As an exception to the rule, "WE, tête" tries to make our idea of tête visible. Central here is the encounter, the exchange: tête as a social space. tête is impossible without its public, which is reflected through the various portraits – be it concrete ones, of friends or models, or of anonymous placeholders. The two installations that were specifically made for the show characterize tête particularly well. With its airport announcements in different languages, Adrian Schiesser’s sound installation refers to the internationality of both our group and our audience, and talks about our presence and absence, the permanent state of flux. Julien Villaret’s upcycling of his own catalogs into a hammock, finally celebrates the abandonment of the ego, the look into the future, and playfully invites to participate, interact: to exchange.

Sébastien Brault plays lo-fi electro-pop with anger.
He exploits the limited presets of his toy-keyboard to build songs out of archetypal pop structures, which he then grinds through distortion and delivers with a raw urgency, reminiscent of no-wave/punk rather than electro-pop. Between genres by way of sheer inadequacy, his alleged musical influences include Suicide, Throbbing Gristle, as well as Bach and Enio Morricone.
Currently his favourite hobby is to destroy ukuleles.
