The Mexican artist Carlos Amorales (born in Mexico City, 1970) utilises the entire upper floor of the Kunsthalle Fridericianum for his project Nuevos Ricos. Both an art project and a record label, Nuevos Ricos was created by the artist together with the composer Julian Lede in 2003. Its history is represented in large installations, images and texts. CDs fill entire wall surfaces, video clips document the history of Nuevos Ricos and its contracted bands: The exhibition appears like a fusion of art, music and life. The concept of Amorales' exhibition refers to social dimensions, by calling the interplay between original and copy or cause and effect into question. The exhibition is accompanied by music performances, gigs and readings.
