2007: Brussels 04-08-07 00:13 am (video 4min.)

The title of this piece is just a location, a date and a time.
Just like any other true documentary work could have. This work is also a homage to the observer
being portrayed. Observation functions as a base for understanding. But ‘to observe’ in it’s act is
not ‘to understand’. Distribution Filmbank, Amsterdam

The film in itself is a miraculous cultural discovery. Recorded in Reykjavík, Iceland in
October 2007.

2008: Silent Retreat (video 4 min.)

Beholds an introduction and a conclusion at the same time. Via a devilish introduction from the
back, the main character retreats into a comforting zone. By switching the structure things do
not appear to move. The conclusion from the beginning is that all stays the same. Therefore also a
personal statement. Distribution Filmbank, Amsterdam.

2010: Typographic Matchmaking in the City 2.0 (video 33min.)

Jan de Bruin Productions and the Khatt Foundation
. Shot
on several locations in Amsterdam, Dubai

Typographic Matchmaking in the City :
the Film follows the 5 teams of Dutch and Arab designers that
participated in the project over a period
of 18 months while they were traveling, working together, and
presenting their work in progress to
culturally and professionally diverse audiences. The film makes
visible not only the design process,
the struggles and challenges of the designers, but also addresses
the larger topics of bringing two
cultures into a dialogue through design. The personalities of the
designers show through their
collaborative process, discussions, interactions and the final
design outcomes. the film gives a very
humane and personal portrait of the process of creation and
creativity. Edited by Ans Kanen.

As producer:

2008: Amazing Grace (video 55 min.)

This film is an observing and associative document in which a
dance & music exchange project held
in China is being portrait. The experiences of artists from both
Asia and Europe, function as a
starting point for a view into different worlds. The combination of
location, contradicting elements and
people reacting on this, create atmospheric spaces that underline
a void between the familiar and
the unknown. ( Dir. Ans Kanen )
