ARTIST STATEMENT

Working mainly with sculptural installations, mostly in-Situ and sometimes field based, but also with videos, I aim to relay a subjective understanding of the space in all its dimensions. Interrogating the rules that reign over it, and underlining the relativity, I try to put our bearings into perspective in order to create a reflexion and to redefine our positioning.
I aim to create spaces which introduce a step from our real situation, and in which we can project ourselves, imagine ourselves in some illogical situations.

I proceed by taking into consideration the constitutive properties of elements and spaces, either to stage the intern dynamic of things, or to modify them and give the impression to be able to circumvent the fundamental physical laws, such as trying to possess the space vertically, defying the laws of gravity.

The presence of grounds is a significant pattern in my work. It is the place where we stand, where we are, considered as a given a fact, we cannot peacefully understand ourselves without. I define the surfaces of my installations as ground through their material, and give them qualities opposite to the definition of ground so they can destabilize and give a glimpse of impossible spaces, such as vertical grounds or horizons brought forward. Those are unstable grounds, sinking under our steps, swinging against their weight, grounds in elevation or in motion.

Those last years, the idea of a“Delocalized place” has been leading my different projects. By “Delocalised place”, I mean a ground which has lost its anchoring, a moving piece of landscape, an other sort of non-site. It is an attempt to put into perspective the idea of geographical positioning as well as the spatial bearings.
It involves creating places in displacement, grounds which can redefine their position,

I would like to give a sort of vertigo imagining that the place where we stand might not be what we expect it to be.
