The exhibition based in Berlin presents works by some 80 artists, so called “emerging artist” who live and work in Berlin, at Atelierhaus Monbijoupark and four other locations. The exhibition covers the full range of contemporary art practices, from painting and drawing to sculpture, photography, film and video, as well as installations and text-based works. A comprehensive program of events featuring screenings, performances, workshops and discussions, forms an essential part of the exhibition.

Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the German capital has developed into one of the world's most important locations for contemporary art production. Berlin's reputation as a creative, cosmopolitan and dynamic city continues to attract many artists from both Germany and abroad and has made it a significant gallery base. The exhibition creates a spatial and temporal concentration of the diverse artistic activities taking place in the city, and makes them accessible to a broad audience.

based in Berlin is an exhibition of Contemporary Art in Berlin at the Atelierhaus Monbijoupark, and will extent into KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof–Museum für Gegenwart–Berlin, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein n.b.k., and Berlinischen Galerie–Landesmuseum für Moderne Kunst, Fotografie und Architektur - organised by Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH.
