AUXILIARY CONSTRUCTIONS BEHELFSKONSTRUKTIONEN TERMS OF EXHIBITING, PRODUCING AND PERFORMING, PART I
How can Kunsthaus Dresden – Städtische Galerie für Gegenwartskunst the thought and used anew? Auxiliary Constructions – Behelfskonstruktionen questions the spatial conditions, the properties and potentials of the house. The site-specific works that will be produced for this show approach the architectonical setting and put it into question.
The building of the Kunsthaus Dresden becomes thus the material of the artistic process. The baroque building with its small and often narrow rooms is often seen as limiting. The artist’s counter these conditions subversively, emphasize their properties or try to work against them.
The exhibition focuses on the movement of the visitor in this architectural setting, the classical choreography of the round tour is being broken up. It has as a goal to open up the house and foster a controversial discussion about its positioning.
