Bordering the Fantastic

For the inaugural exhibition in its new premises at 963 Rachel East in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal, Pierre-François Ouellette art contemporain is pleased to present Bordering the Fantastic – a Montreal premier of recent works by artists represented by the gallery.
Bordering the Fantastic recognizes that we live in a largely symbolic universe – one that we move through on a daily basis, almost without realizing it, by interpreting an infinite number of things that stand in for other things. Artists are particularly adept at navigating between the signs that make up this cosmos, and are able to bend their meaning to create new associations.
This exhibition represents a unique gathering of works in sculpture, photography, video and drawing. Despite their formal and aesthetic differences, these works play with our expectations by juxtaposing what we know alongside the unfamiliar, the imaginary or even the fantastical.
