New Acquisitions of Contemporary Art
Painting, sculpture, videos of the 21st century
until 15.10.2006

Since the opening of the Pinakothek der Moderne in September 2002, a number of new acquisitions to its collection of contemporary art were presented for the very first time as temporary exhibitions. Among them: »Himalaya Goldsteins Wohnstube« by Pipilotti Rist, »Silent Factory« by Mark Manders, »Doppelgarage« by Thomas Hirschhorn or »The 4 Seasons of Veronica Read« by Kutlug Atman.

On the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the Pinakothek der Moderne, different parts of the museum will be showing further new acquisitions. These will include such key works as the painting »Metropolitain« by Peter Doig and »Wahl« by Neo Rauch, both of which were purchased following their individual exhibitions. Also on display: paintings, sculptures and videos by, among others, Johan Grimonprez, Thomas Helbig, Simone Lanzenstiel, Bjørn Melhus, Markus Selg.

The majority of the acquisitions were made possible by PIN. Friends of the Pinakothek der Moderne, the foundation Theo Wormland Stiftung, the scheme of the Bavarian State Government to support artists and publicists, and also private foundations.
