PASSIONATE PROVOCATIVE -THE STOFFEL COLLECTION

From: 2008/11/20 To: 2009/03/01
Exhibition | PINAKOTHEK DER MODERNE | KUNST

In the autumn of 2006 the Michael and Eleonore Stoffel Collection passed into the permanent possession of the Bayerischen Staatsgemälde-sammlungen. It is regarded as one of the most important private collections in Germany. Michael and Eleonore Stoffel assembled the works from the 1970s onwards with careful thought, commitment and feeling for the specific qualities of the artist in question. Shaped by their rich knowledge and passion for art, there evolved a collection cosmos which illustrates important developments in German and American art in particular from the Sixties to the Nineties of the 20th century. The collection includes major complexes of works by Marlene Dumas, Caroll Dunham, Jörg Immendorff, Mike Kelley, Per Kirkeby, Markus Lüpertz and Rosemarie Trockel.
The exhibition shows central groups of work from the Collection.
