The art centre designed by Aldo Rossi and Xavier Fabre under the supervision of founder/director Dominique Marchès in 1988 was opened to the public in 1991. It now belongs to France's Nouvelle Aquitaine Region. Over the last 25 years the art centre has commissioned 50 public sculptures, produced 100 exhibitions, shown 1500 artworks and assisted 300 artists.

To celebrate this 25th anniversary we are presenting a historical selection of models, drawings and archival material by the architects; in addition we have invited eight artists from the French scene to respond freely to Aldo Rossi's ideas and architectural vocabulary.

The "Forget Architecture" exhibition takes its paradoxical title from Rossi's A Scientific Autobiography (Cambridge, MA: Oppositions Books, 1981), in which he invites us to revisit his work through the prism of memory.
