CIFRE IMMAGINARIE
Jean-Pierre Bertrand – Louise Bourgeois – Giovanni Rizzoli
curated by Bruno Corà
16 December, 2011 - 10 March, 2012

Galleria Cardi is pleased to announce the opening of "Cifre immaginarie", an exhibition curated by Bruno Corà. The show has developed from thoughts about the works of three artists from different generations who, however, have worked hard to arrive at similar concepts about what they produce. In fact, each of them has - over time and with different pictorial and plastic aims answering authentic individual poetic needs - evolved certain "personal repertoires" which have typified their respective creations. So the common denominator of their works, rather than unlikely and unsearched-for consonan¬¬ces, is to be found in the indomitable imaginative tension that is the guiding light for each one's creativity. In this show the works by Louise Bourgeois, shot-through with an amazing, utopian, and visionary sensitivity involving family mythology as much as eroticism, are flanked by those by Giovanni Rizzoli. These too are not disposed to give up either their dreamlike dimension or a voyant's amazement in front of everyday epiphanies. Similarly, Jean-Pierre Bertrand, by nourishing a hermeneutic process, outlines his chromatic ars combinatoria with forms and spatiality answering rules he has invented and follows strictly. The viewer of these personal repertoires is asked to recognize them through the works and their inescapable appearance. So the exhibition once again invites us, as in other moments of budding cultural recovery, to exercise our individual perception and thought in the face of works that have all the aroma of active questioning.
