Leipzig Startpaket:
I’ve always wanted to come to Leipzig since I was a child for different reasons...

The name of the city itself is weird to me ,萊比錫(Lai Pi Hsi),「錫」means “tin” in Chinese, and the very first thing I learnt about Leipzig is Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra from radio. Since then, I’ve always connected this city with images of brass tubes, metal, metallic surfaces... And it even glazed with a layer of mystery when I learnt about the difference of east/west Germany 10 years ago when I just started my artist/painter career, I learnt about a group of Leipzig painters (Leipzig school) and I was fascinated and even more curious about this city...

10 years later I finally got an opportunity to visit mysterious Leipzig for the very first time and even had a long stay. In the beginning I tried to portray the decayed futurism and sci-fi atmosphere of the city, and then I started to layout all the visual element I collected. Later, I just found that I AM rebuilding the city itself... it’s also a kind of diary keeping... It reminds me how I learnt about this city from the very beginning (from the left to right), how there are more people getting involved in my life from the pure shapes and objects ...

I registered as an “official Leipziger” from the Rathaus, I got a yellow welcome Leipziger box, which feels like being extra accepted and also extra alien at the same time. What the “startpacket” means to me? So here are my Leipzig Startpakets...“
