Kunitaro Suda
January 13 - March 5, 2006

Kunitaro Suda (1891-1961) specialized in aesthetics and art history at Kyoto University, and studied the history and techniques of oil painting in Europe. He established his unique style of light and shade supported by his profound knowledge, and tried to merge Eastern and Western styles in his works that revealed the essence of objects in rich contrasts of light and shade. This is the museum's first exhibition featuring the painter after the posthumous show held in 1963, and provides a full view of his art.
