Platform China Contemporary Art Institute (Beijing) is pleased to present Qin Qi’s solo exhibition on November 8, 2014, which will show his latest new works from the last two years.
As a significant artist born in 1970s, Qin Qi’s practice in painting is distinctly representative. It’s resulted from his spirits of skepticism and introspection, which also makes his works of great variety and extensiveness of themes and content. Qin Qi is not an artist that easy to be defined by any kind of artistic styles and characteristics. However, maybe in a way, this variability is just his distinction.
Most works in this show are the result of Qin Qi’s bran-new attempt of the last two years. “ The painting by Qin Qi looks like one as a whole, he never carelessly collaged. If Qin Qi regards the world as accidental, then this accident does not lack profound logic.” He makes no narrative, and choses more varies and extraordinary painting languages based on different themes. Meanwhile, “The painting of Qin Qi is neither a world of coincidence nor a display of a dreamy world”, that broadens capacity of his works.
He shows further divergent thoughts of painting in a bran-new way, bringing out works of sensitive considerations and implicit humour. ”These paintings recognize that the world may be strange and inconceivable, yet we must treat it seriously.”
