SABINE HORNIG RECONSTRUCTS REA...

Sabine Hornig reconstructs real architectural elements and rebuilds them by rescaling and abstracting them.
Being totally covered in stucco these sculptures seem to be without reference to a concrete place. They become prototypes of a global architecture of banality. Their character and function has been hidden by the plasterwork. The perception of the fleeting and unspectacular adds up to a general impression of a city . Despite the functionality and anonymity of the forms which are percieved, one always connects the peripheral gaze with oneґs own personal memory. Sabine Hornig strings strange details together, which create a different relation to the trivial. The sculptures underline the setlike and modellike appearance of the buildings, they create monuments of the ordinary.
