EMMET GOWIN
23 October 2013 - 26 January 2014
Curator: Carlos Gollonet
Sala Rekalde helds the most comprehensive retrospective of the north American photographer Emmet Gowin’s work to date (Danville, Virginia, 1941) organized by Fundación MAPFRE. The almost 200 works collected on this occasion will offer the viewer a closer look to one of the most original photographers of the last forty years of photography.
The exhibition, divided in series, runs throughout his career from the first images which portrayed scenes of everyday life and family -where his wife Edith becomes the absolute protagonist-, to the air landscapes and images of insects as an archive that Gowin has made in recent years. Among the aerial photographs should be highlighted his recent snapshots of Andalusian lands that will be presented for the first time to the public.
