HIROE SAEKI
Taka Ishii Gallery is pleased to announce our third solo exhibition with Hiroe Saeki. Within her body of work, which is characterized by bold compositions and delicate images, we will present new drawings marked by fresh variation.
Into her impressive works which are characterized by blank spaces, an impression of concentration yet openness blends in. By drawing carefully every single detail with a mechanical pencil, letting her senses flow and leaving everything to her hands, she is extending her oeuvre.
Scenes of nature and geometrical forms, very mysterious looking things that are emerging, growing from the top of the scene, look as if they will disperse into the white space.
Santo Oshima “Incidental Affairs” exhibition catalogue pp. 36-37, Suntory Museum, Osaka, 2009
Starting with the participation in the group show “Incidental Affairs” at the Suntory Museum, Osaka (March 7 – May 10), followed by “neoteny japan – contemporary artists after 1990’s from Takahashi Collection” at the Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo (May 20 – July 15), her works will tour to a number of spaces within Japan including The Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, Akita Museum of Modern Art and the Yonago City Museum of Art.
Furthermore, the artist is participating in the exhibition “Winter Garden: The Exploration of the Micropop Imagination in Contemporary Japanese Art” curated by Midori Matsui at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo (May 23 – July 20) which will tour to Europe in fall.
