PURPOSELESS ORDER THE OBJEC...
Purposeless OrderThe object is a garden hose is a seat: conquered (by) art. André Tempels work can be both reduced and space taking. It is sensual and at the same time useful looking objects made of polymere industrial products.
His favourite materials, the classic hose or green plastic vases usually made for graveflowers become organic, alive. They squat the stairways, walls and grounds. Conquering the exhibition space they also invade the reception of the spectator visually and haptically. He steps inside the objects or holds on to them with his eyes, his hands. Causality is turned upside down: equation, layers and functions are shiftet, if not reduced to absurdity.
Tempels works combine something toylike with a technoide appearance. Alive and organic gadgets are constructed.
This is the power of André Tempels work: to animate things, to lead them through artistic barriers or bonds into a new, only virtually secure existence.
