Björn Dahlem (born in Munich in 1974) developes a site-specific installation for the first large exhibition space at Berlinische Galerie. Dahlem is interested in the sense of marvel felt in the face of natural scientific phenomena, especially from the realm of astrophysics. He examines them without using standard scientific imaging techniques. He creates atmospheric landscapes using everyday, often simple materials that do not explain or illustrate, but rather open a space for individual explorations. Dahlem’s works allow for associative narratives that provide a new approach to issues on the margins of scientific investigation.
