Within the terms of the promotion of female artists of the Senate Department of Science, Research, and Culture, Sabine Hornig shows an installation of sculpture and photography and presents her first catalogue raisonné.
In her works, a picture and the view into the surrounding room interfere with each other. The sculpture „Room with Big Window” represents the fragment of a room. A transparent image of a two-part window with an inner room in the back is installed in its longitudinal axis. The visitor, standing before the object, looks on the one hand into the photographed room, on the other hand into a real, transparent inner room. Through the latter he can see the exhibition room and other visitors, including these that look at the picture from the opposite side. Sabine Hornig scales down the architecture to the proportions of the visitor.
The photograph behind acrylic glass that is shown here, is, as the sculpture, considerably reduced in scale. Nevertheless it has the effect of a perspective through the real museum wall.
Sabine Hornig, born in 1964, studied at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin. She received numerous awards and scholarships at home and abroad.
