ELFIE SEMOTAN
Photography for the BOOK PROJECT
May 1 - June 13, 2009
In 1996 Elfie Semotan and Martin Kippenberger had the idea of a joint project, a book of photographs from Semotan ́s archive that would be straightforwardly selected. Because the photographs are out of focus, because people ́s legs, arms or heads are cropped, because they contain no complete information, they seem to have absolutely no value.By extended contemplation, the photographs nevertheless generate a particular aesthetic and emotional quality.
An initial selection of 136 works introduces this project by Elfie Semotan and Martin Kippenberger.
