carlier | gebauer is pleased to announce the opening of "The Poster Show" on Friday, January 20th, from 6-9pm. The exhibition provides an insight into the development of the artist's poster during the past years. The exhibition mainly show works of artists, who are living in Berlin or who are represented by Berlin galleries. A selection of posters from Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, Richard Hamilton, Anna Opperman as well as Marcel Duchamp are complementing the show as historical references.
The exhibition displays the multi-facetted varieties of the artist's approach towards the poster as medium. Exhition posters, political posters, recourses on Pop Art traditions, collages, overpainted posters, wallpapers, monochrome posters, also text-only works and three-dimensional installations represent the large spectrum of the poster as medium of contemporary art.
