ESSEX STREET is pleased to present an exhibition of Five Sculptures.

A Conspiracy was made in 2017 by Carolyn Lazard. A Conspiracy is Dohm white noise machines installed on the ceiling and turned on. In “Five Sculptures” the work is twelve white noise machines. The manufacturer states that a sound machine is “more than simply a noise-masking device - it creates both a system and a sanctuary.” The manufacturer states that white noise is especially useful for “SNORING” “LOUD ENVIRONMENTS” “INFANTS” “STUDENTS” “TRAVELERS” “OFFICES” “SHIFT WORK” and “TINNITUS.” A Conspiracy was first installed from September 2017 to January 2018 in an elevator in an exhibition titled “Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon” in the New Museum in New York. A Conspiracy is an edition of three with two artist’s proofs.

Shrooms was made in 2016 by Ghislaine Leung. Shrooms is small mushroom shaped lights of moulded yellow plastic inside of which are housed electrical elements, inclusive of light sensor and a single LED, that plug and sit within plastic metal pinned adapters pushed into sockets. Shrooms is installed in every available electrical outlet. In “Five Sculptures” the work is twenty two nightlights and twenty two adaptors. Shrooms was most recently installed from June to July 2017 in a group exhibition in And Now in Dallas. Shrooms was previously installed from September to November 2017 in a group exhibition in Galerie PCP in Paris. Shrooms was previously installed from September to November 2017 in a group exhibition in Galerie MAM in Vienna. Shrooms was previously installed from April 2017 in a solo event titled “29042017” in San Serriffe in Amsterdam. Shrooms was previously installed from February to March 2017 in a solo exhibition titled “The Moves” in Cell Project Space in London. Shrooms was previously installed from January to March 2017 in a group exhibition in Cultuurcentrum Strombeek in Grimbergen. Shrooms was first installed in September 2016 in a solo exhibition titled “078746844” in Wiels in Brussels. Shrooms is an edition of three with two artist’s proofs.

Passive Vibration Durometer Facts 6 was made in 2018 by Park McArthur. Passive Vibration Durometer Facts 6 is three laminated rubber loading dock bumpers and hardware. The manufacturer states that loading dock bumpers are “great for facilities with heavy dock traffic, offering extra protection to defend against accidents and normal wear and tear” and also “can withstand years of punishment and provides the greatest amount of protection even with consistent pounding and abuse.” Loading dock bumpers are made from recycled bus and truck tires. The work is installed at a height of forty eight inches from the ground. Passive Vibration Durometer Facts 6 has never been exhibited before. Passive Vibration Durometer Facts 6 is unique.

Three Inches And A Half was made in 2018 by Niloufar Emamifar. Three Inches And A Half is pigmented hard plastic. The plastic was cast from silicon that was cast from the walls of two adjacent buildings. One building is a mechanic shop. One building was a mechanic shop but has been renovated into residences. Both buildings are owned by Palestinians. Both buildings are in Los Angeles. The space between the walls of these two buildings is three and a half inches. Three Inches And A Half has never been exhibited before. Three Inches And A Half is unique.
