Foam_3h: Jasper Groen - Jeffrey
7 July - 23 August 2006
Jeffrey is nineteen. On his chest he sports a German iron cross. ‘It’s a symbol of masculinity’, Jeffery explains. He would have preferred an SS skull, but the owner of the tattoo shop refused.
Photographer Jasper Groen met Jeffrey three years ago in Maastricht. At that time the teenager was still an active breakdancer, a fan of hiphop, as well as hard-core music and Lonsdale clothes. But other breakdancers were less than enamoured by his outfit, which eventually culminated in a fight with a black dancer.
After that incident Jeffrey began cutting his hair short and called himself a skinhead. Yet tattoos, Lonsdale clothes and extreme rightist music are about as far as it goes for the otherwise soft-spoken Jeffrey. He opposes any form of violence, but insists that all foreigners should be expelled from the country.
