What do we want from our technology? How do the tools we use define the future we can imagine? Our relationship with technology has always been co-extensive—we shape our tools and, thereafter, our tools shape us—yet we are often expected to uncritically embrace new technology, to see it as inherently neutral and progressive. To re-imagine the tools with which we make and re-make our reality is perhaps one of the most radical acts of creativity and a source of profound political power. The international group exhibition Tools for Change considers artists as inventors of «convivial tools» and brings together a wide range of artistic positions that chart alternative visions for technology and society by emphasizing access, creativity, justice and interdependence.
