Sharing, Knowledge, Wisdom. ifa Gallery and the Auckland Artspace from New Zealand present 'Politics of Sharing'

'We breathe the same air.' This is the fundamental idea underlying the 'hongi', the greeting of the Maori people. By pressing one's nose and forehead to another person at an encounter the ha (or breath of life), is exchanged and intermingled. We live on one planet and share the same energy of life – elements that don't belong to us as human beings such as earth, air and water. The exibition at the ifa Gallery Berlin is about sharing and the 'politics of sharing'. What does sharing mean for us, and under which conditions does it take place? Which value systems are necessary to preserve good living conditions on our planet? What are the spaces and places of community, and how can we maintain and renew them? From which concepts of community can we learn?

The exhibition presents artistic positions that convey a knowledge we already carry within us: non-rational knowledge, ancient knowledge, knowledge systems that are not based on substance-cognitive methods.
