BEAUTY IS THE GRAMOUR OF TRUTH
curated by Birgit Hoffmeister
PEGGY BUTH, GRIT HACHMEISTER, ANDREA MENG
Birgit Hoffmeister, curator who lives and works in Germany, will present the artwork of three young artists from Leipzing who stand for the exemplary positions within contemporary painting, installation and photography.
The group exhibition “Beauty is the Glamour of Truth” is about to convey the phenomenon of “Leipzing School” to the Athenian audience for the first time. The exhibition will show the artistic impact of Beauty, Glamour, and Truth in its emphatic meaning, thus relating the above concepts to contemporary/visual, aesthetic and political situation of art itself.
The participated artists, Peggy Buth, Grit Hachmeister, Andrea Meng and will be present during the exhibition’s opening.
Peggy Buth, 1979, lives and works in Leipzing.
Peggy Buth’s carpet fabric installations and works on the wall create interventions through the main power forces. Fire introduces a new form of painting.
Grit Hachmeister, 1979, lives and works in Leipzig.
The body plays the central role in the photographs, installation and drawings of Grit Hachmeister. Romanticism, eroticism and pain are closely related with the viewer, without, nevertheless, producing a voyeuristic emotion. Her work presents life through many facades in an engaged way. At the same time, it creates a thoughtful reflection on her own experience.
Andrea Meng, 1979, lives and works in Leipzing.
The paintings of Andrea Meng work like commentaries, both in a painting and drawing fashion. These commentaries address to persons and animals, to architecture and political events, even to the dimension of dreams. Andrea Meng produces unexpected artistic situations.
