KIRSTEN PIEROTH

GALLERY KLOSTERFELDE IS PROUD ...

Gallery Klosterfelde is proud to present the first exhibition with Kirsten Pieroth (*1970), who works with objects which are normally belonging to domestic spheres.

Daily life objects, classified through form, function or cultural identity, are withdrawn from their original context and analysed in the comparison to other objects or within the object itself. Starting-point of the works is a comparison of opposite or common characteristics which in turn effects unusual connections. Even if the external form is occasionally changed, what remains are the typically identifying marks of the object. The viewer with his corresponding connotations can no longer complete a definite categorising for the one or the other signification. This oscillating movement between different sections exclude hierarchical principles through equivalent coexistent definitions.

The literal transformation of notions into objects paradoxically leads to new definitions and decontextualisation. The simultaneousness of verbal reflection and of the order system is revealed. The works of Pieroth question the relationship between the action of looking, notion and object.
