Lines are the aesthetic form that touches us in everyday life. The delicate lines of the eyelashes of a child, the lines in the face of aging people draw the years, but also the curved course of a river, an architectural form or the bare branches in winter looming black against the sky.
Kunsthaus Dresden is devoted to “Lines / Lines” his first show after the facade restoration and artistic transformation of the power house of the current effect of the medium of drawing and the transition zones between the drawn line and real spatial environment, artistic gesture and social action space. Whether in the two-dimensional drawing or their transfer into the room, it is the line with a new ideological as well as material reality is conceivable. With a minimum of means this basic form of artistic expression ensures maximum freedom of thought.
Scene of artistic works, performances and interventions is the house itself, the façade, which was designed by the artist Jozef Legrand Art House Square, including the urban area along the Elbe. The architects of the boiler & Züger redesigned entrance and light installation by artist Sebastian Hempel open the house to the main road.
On two Sundays of the Kunsthaus square with “linear 1′′ and “2 Linear” is a stage for performances, cartoon animation and experimental film as well as public lectures for drawing. From 16.30 clock STORE invites to the Kunsthaus place to open Line Dance workshop for all ages.
A project in collaboration with Societätstheater Dresden, DIAF (German Institute for Animated Film) and project space STORE Dresden, supported by the Cultural Foundation of Saxony
Lines / Lines, curated by Christiane Mennicke Black (Artistic Director Kunsthaus Dresden) and Anna Till (freelance choreographer, Dresden and Berlin). The cabinet exhibition was curated by Elly Brose Eiermann in cooperation with the Friends of the Kunsthaus Dresden.
The restoration of the facade in the city planning office collaboration was made possible with funds from the urban development of federal, state and local authorities.
