The American artist Amie Siegel who is currently living and working at the Akademie Schloss Solitude as a scholarship holder, presents her latest three-part work on the ground floor of the Kunstmuseum. In the main part, the 20-minute film »Black Moon«, Siegel partially refers to the science fiction film of the same name, shot by the Frenchman Louis Malle in 1975. A deserted area with eerie ghost towns created by the American real estate crisis becomes the setting for obscure acts of war. Only a group of escaping women soldiers is visible. With a few artistic methods Siegel manages to suspend all references to the time and place of the action and to create a work of science fiction alluding to many more cinematic genres.

Amie Siegel was born in Chicago in 1974 and today lives in Berlin, New York, and Stuttgart. She took part in group exhibitions around the world, e.g. at the MoMa/PS1 (New York), at the Hayward Gallery (London), at the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis) and at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin). Her films and videos were shown, among others, at the Museum of Modern Art (New York), at the International Film Festival in Cannes and at the International Film Festival in Berlin.
