PEACHES
Whose Jizz Is This
In Kooperation Mit Dem Sommerfestival Auf Kampnagel
10 August – 20 October 2019

To mark the 20-year stage anniversary of the musician and artist Peaches, the Kunstverein in Hamburg and the Summer Festival at Kampnagel present different facets of the artistic universe of the queer feminist pop-ikon:

Kunstverein in Hamburg presents the first institutional solo exhibition Whose Jizz Is This? by Peaches. She takes a trans-disciplinary and transgressive approach to expanding the format of “the exhibition” by creating a living organism.

Whose Jizz Is This? takes Peaches’ many-sided practice—including her musical productions and live performances—as the starting point to present sculptural, photographic, film and text works in an immersive environment. All works have been created for this exhibition. Ever adept at boundary blurring, Peaches has created a show that combines live performance, musical intervention, visual art and historical reflection. Taking a bold and unexpected approach to the topics of sex, feminism, queerness, gender, and new millennium politics, Peaches calls her WJIT presentation “a deconstructed musical with 14 scenes.”

At the heart of this presentation are the “Fleshies,” who have renamed themselves as such to rewrite their narrative, break away from humans and human interactions, do away with words like sex toys and Masturbators in a quest to find sexual equality amongs themelves.

For the show’s opening, Federica Dauri will do a durational performance consisting of a loose, silicone structure that is inhabited by a human who tries to live as a silicone form. Or, better, a silicone body that takes over a human.

Kampnagel will feature the world premiere of a futuristic stage happening (THERE'S ONLY ONE PEACH WITH THE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE ), she is also presenting four club-evenings at KMH and is the anarchic vaudeville show SHABOOM!
