SELECTIONS FROM THE MCA COLLECTION
February 17 - March 15, 2009
This group of four works from the MCA Collection, including large video installations by Fiona Tan and Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle and significant recent acquisitions of work by Doris Salcedo and Louise Bourgeois, share a sensibility of uncomfortable spaces. Ranging from architect Mies van der Rohe's transparent Farnsworth House and American prisons to the psychological terrain of war-torn Colombia and the emotional violence of some maternal relationships, the figure, including that of the viewer, becomes subsumed by these charged spaces.
