Unlike the 2005 biennale the international term of curators is to present not one collective project but rather 5 exhibitions that have been prepared by the curators both individually and in groups. They will all be united by the theme ‘FOOTNOTES on Geopolitics, Market and Amnesia’ and will present, all in all, the works of 111 artists.
The organizers are of the opinion that the structure of the main project will help the viewers to look at the stated problems from various points of view. The curators are calling for “remarks” or “footnotes” which lie outside of the global text – a critical analysis of the general idea of international biennials in itself;a modest gesture that explains the collage of expressions in the already existent text.
