The exhibition project "Windungen Bindungen" is the result of a collaboration between the Nassauischer Kunstverein and Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). The venue is the foyer of the IHK Wiesbaden, located at the former royal residence Erbprinzenpalais on Wilhelmstrasse. The prestigious building was the Nassauischer Kunstverein’s first exhibition venue and between 1821 and 1915 housed the beginnings of the art collection that now fills Museum Wiesbaden. This artistic intervention is barely noticeable in the context of the striking classicist architecture boasting imposing columns and the sweeping double staircase. It is only as the visitor walks through the room that flickering reflections of the light reveal the four “walls” made of transparent nylon threads, which the artist used to connect each the pairs of columns. Yet their gauze-like fragility is deceptive: they are in fact impenetrable and thus require visitors to rethink the usual and most direct route through the foyer.
