THE PAINTINGS

The Paintings

When Nathalie guides us through great industrial spaces, she does not create a vision of an interior but introduces us to the intimacy of the world of dreams. Above all, it is the prospect for observation that is important. Using a modern technique of catching sight the pictorial representation arises as a glance from afar, whilst the impossible sight rebuilds the limit where reality and dreams, fiction and documentation merge, and from the infinite series of singular moments musical time enters the paintings. The images, painted according to photographs taken by Web-cams, try to capture one moment of this reality. A moment that is untouched apart from the reality of the rational subject and its comprehensible language.
If we share with Nathalie the play of reality and the unreal, the bringing together and the distant, the determination and the chance, we gain a new prospect.
As the work of dreams carries out a perlaboration of real events, as nightmares deform reality, the image transformed into pastel colors announces a different reality; its fragile and dangerous beauty being shown, untouchable and fugitive, through the fragments of reality which lives within us and surrounds us.
If, according to Walter Benjamin, through mechanical reproducibility the work of art has lost its’ aura, Nathalie succeeds to reconstitute it, with her meticulous work of rebuilding, in which pictorial art and documentary techniques cooperate.
