PHILIP GRÖZINGER

EBENBEIN UND ELFENHOLZ

At his first solo exhibition at Christian Ehrentraut Grözinger presents a series of grotesque landscapes. Mutant figures of earlier works are no longer visible on Grözinger’s canvases, but machine-like fortresses, abandoned industrial artefacts, satellites and burning city skylines bear signs of alien, post-apocalyptic civilisations. Grözinger observes the isolated islands of his paintings as if through spy holes. Using acrylic paint with strong brushstrokes, crayons and spray paint, he tilts perspectives and changes horizon lines constantly. Archaic-technoid cultures are introduced with diffuse light conditions and full of dark humour.

Philip Grözinger was born in Braunschweig in 1972. He attended the Braunschweig University of Art and was Meisterschüler of Prof. Karl Schulz. His works have been exhibited in numerous venues.
