Traces of natural constructs from the Romantic era (Caspar David Friedrich, Karl Rottmann) can be found in the sculptures and films of the Munich-based artist Thomas Steffl (*1970), just as much as the aesthetics of absence of a Marcel Duchamp or John Cage. The artist¿s cosmos removes borders established between the natural and the artificial, enabling new combinations of meaning to evolve through an idiosyncratic rearrangement of image and sound.
