Pawel Althamer asked eleven young artists from different schools, all based in France, to work together on an eleven-episode shadow play on film. Althamer classes his work in three genres: work associated with institutions, work for groups, and work involving his family. He applied that same principle to this exhibition. He chose eleven artists from twenty-odd short-listed candidates to form a coherent group, and then asked them to take part in a number of workshops. This exhibition documents their work together and, especially, their thoughts on an artist's status in a society governed by celebrities and stardom.
