Robert Steng is creating reduced sculptures and wallpieces out of found material like fragments of veneered furniture or the relics of an old helical stair. The special asthetic of his works results from a sensitive way of working with the materials he uses. The reduced style of his objects that is derived from looking into abstract ornaments and perspectively patterns reminds one of the Hard Edge painting of the sixties as well as of Arte Povera.The works of Robert Steng infiltrates our memory – beyond all concrete references - like fragments of the lyrics of a song.
