SUSANNE STARKE’S SCULPTURES RE...
Susanne Starke’s sculptures refer to the images of art history – by transforming parts of these images into three-dimensional material, thus making them real; she poses the question if image or even art depicts reality or constructs it, eventually making up our very perception of the world.Demons and fable creatures have appeared in her three-dimensional work as well. They are also formal or contextual references to art history and literature. The classical instruments of role-playing embody her own function in the work here: with masks and insignia she creates the props for a fictional play enacted to her own rules.
