Surface Tension presents chromed out, ultra-finished, FX works placed under the scrutinizing gaze of conceptual decision making. A modernist painting wrapped around a futuristic sci-fi bust, 3D worlds bent into a complex labyrinth, hi-tech carbon fiber as seen under a microscope, mirror foil arranged on canvas, biodegradable pigments poured into a cast of a bust of a Chinese author. These works confront the viewer with their hybrid materiality and visual camouflage. Lingering is necessary. Sharing a post-millennial hyper aesthetic these positions pose questions about the future of image/object making.
