KOJI NAKAZONO
8 - 31 August 2013

Introduction:
At the age of 23, Koji Nakazono has already presented a wide range of expressions in his paintings, including a painterly work where wide brushstrokes seem to dance on canvas, a work consists of pixel-like elements, which may be quite familiar for his generation, and a work with extremely abundant colors and lines. Playful and monster-like, humorous creatures appear in a large quantity of small paintings of 40 cm stored in his studio. On his motivation for painting, Nakazono states:
I feel that I can paint something after seeing people, and I often finish works in this way. The finished images seem random, but they are all the sceneries that I wish to see. (Koji Nakazono, 2013)
To make the sceneries appear in his paintings, he works with different sizes of canvas and expressions freely. Behind this ability and flexibility, there are Nakazono’s strong trust and devotion for paintings and the materials such as paint and crayon, as well as his adventurous spirit. Beautiful parts in the paintings embrace the uplifting feelings that the painter experiences, and gather into rich sceneries.
