IRL (IN REAL LIFE)
14 - 24 October 2012
Oct 14 – 24, Factory Space & First Floor, Opening 7pmIRL (In Real Life) IRL (a chat room acronym for “in real life”) presents net-based works that play with the border between virtual and physical spaces. A roster of international artists discards the idea of the browser as a window into an alternate reality, through which the viewer is absorbed into an image or narrative. Instead, these digital artworks establish an almost material presence — through the texture of light projected on a wall, a sense of gravity pulling on a membrane-like screen, or the volume of otherworldly forms that penetrate and mix realities.
