1 July - 21 October 2012
From 1 July to 28 October the Middelburg Foundation for Visual Arts (SBKM/De Vleeshal), in collaboration with the regional newspaper Provinciale Zeeuwse Courant (PZC) and bookshop De Drvkkery, will present The Art of Choice, an exhibition of works from its own collection, at De Kabinetten van de Vleeshal.
The exhibition was put together by members of the public. Readers of the PZC, Friends of De Vleeshal, pupils from the Nehalennia and Pontes Lyceum schools and visitors to De Drvkkery were invited to vote for their favourite works of art. The works that received the most votes will be on display at De Kabinetten van De Vleeshal until 28 October. Selected artists include Maartje Korstanje, Marlow Moss, Job Koelewijn, Bianca Runge, Marijke van Warmerdam, Liza May Post and Fransje Killaars. Two works by Piet Dieleman will be exhibited at De Drvkkery.
SBKM/De Vleeshal is in charge of Middelburg’s municipal art collection, which is stored at the Museum of Modern Art in Antwerp. Selections from the more than 150 works are periodically exhibited at De Vleeshal or De Kabinetten van De Vleeshal. For The Art of Choice, a preliminary selection of 36 works was presented to the public for voting.
