THE BEST FROM VIENNA-EIKON EDITIONS FROM EUROPEAN ARTISTS

April 17th – May 30th, 2010
Opening: 3pm, April 17th, 2010

A quarterly founded in 1991 and published by the Austrian Institute for Photography and Media Art (OIP), Eikon focuses on Austrian and international media arts with a special emphasis on fine art photography and the new media. Featuring both artistic and theoretical contributions, our main intention is to present young artists from around the world, but we also seek to promote the place of Austrian art internationally. Eikon also produces Edition Eikon, a series of affordable and strictly limited photography editions (ca. 25 each) realized in close collaboration with the artists. Eikon has also a comprehensive library that is open to the public. Visitors are always welcome to stop by the office in Vienna's Museumsquartier. Since its beginnings, Eikon has hosted events that support the public discussion of art in Austria. Eikon's Phototalks is a series of regular panel discussions that brings together artists, experts and the public
audience.

Artists: Georg Aerni, Thomas Florschuetz, Nan Hoover, Lukas Maximilian Hüller, Herwig Kempinger, Marie Jo LaFontaine, Angel Marcos, Brian McKee, Arnulf Rainer, Werner Schrodl, Erwin Wurm.

The journal's editor-in-chief Elisabeth M. Gottfried will join the opening. The exhibition is part of the series Art from Europe, initiated by Alexander Ochs and generously supported by the Cultural Forum of the Austrian Embassy Beijing.
