MORAG KEIL
"Group Show"

2 September to 3 October 2010

A presentation of new work in which the phrase ‘group show’ is taken literally; where grouping, showing and literalness itself find meaning in their own self-evident paradox.
The gallery is divided into groups of works. A collection of photographs, literally linked together, depict an individual in a staged environment seemingly lacking any obvious engagement with their surroundings or with the act of being photographed. Two paintings depict ostensibly unrelated imagery, linked by presentation or by their literal technique.
A digital slide show of each of the paintings from the project 84 paintings, a collaborative work between Morag Keil, Fiona Mackay and Manuela Gernedel shown earlier in the year atWilkinson Gallery, re-presents a group project, regrouped and re-projected.
A mobile phone lies apparently charging in the gallery space.
Morag Keil (b. 1985) studied at Glasgow School of Art.
