Yvon Lambert Gallery is pleased to present an new project by Jonathan Monk : In Between Exhibitions.
This unexpected project consists in several installations at the gallery.
New and old pieces will be displayed between two exhibitions, between installations and dismantling. These pieces will often relate to each other and to the exhibitions before or after.
His work is often based on re-appropriation or a kind of semantic displacement with humor. He is has been known to add a personal twist to artworks by other artists. In Between Exhibitions will allow a continuing link to several artists exhibited at the Yvon Lambert Gallery. The project developes this specific space between two exhibitions, it’s a field of many possibilities and interests for the artist and for the viewer - at a time when the space is generally closed it will be actively open.
This is not the first time the in-between moment has been employed. In 1970 when the Gallery was in rue de l’Echaudée Niele Toroni exploited this constraint within the traditional gallery/exhibition system. Today, Jonathan Monk will intervene seven times on site. In the end, it will be a complete series, gathered as a whole under one original digitally published file.
A new website www.jonathanmonkexhibition.com will be on line in order to follow the evolution of this work in progress and then visitors can be involved within the creative process.
