A2

09 - 30 Jul 2005

Please note AMERIKA’s second group exhibition ‚A2’. From July 9th – July 30th we will present five positions from the gallery’s program that have not been shown until then. The exhibition will feature works from Stefan Fischer, Kerstin Flake, Ulrich Gebert, Falk Haberkorn and Fabian Reimann.

The exhibition is thematically linked by the concept of order and location in their correspondence of time and transience.

The works in Stefan Fischer’s cycle 'displayed places' reflect upon the orifices and sluices that navigate human tides through urban space during the day – yet, these ‚social’ places are turned into reverse at night.

Kerstin Flake’s series 'Es war nur ein Moment' debates predominately the relation of photography and film in with the phenomena of time. She herewith scrutinizes the magical moment that emerges in-between standstill and motion.

Law enforcement sometimes suspends the laws of order! Ulrich Gebert has developed his triptych 'Bloody Mess' (picture above) in the frame of a work piece that deals with the education and training of special law enforcement troops of the German police.

The series 'Rodung' of Falk Haberkorn is part of the project 'Der vergessene Wald – das Schwinden seiner Wirklichkeit und seiner Metaphorik'. “Forest” is here point of reference in several denotations: real image, cultural icon, metaphor for nature in general as well as implemented motif.

In his associative installation 'Artificial Elements Deserting Paradises, Devastating Islands (on my mind)' Fabian Reimann makes the attempt to visualize the invisible.
He simulates through sculpture and drawings the movement of smallest particles revolving around an invisible core and thereby tracing the erasure of pacific atolls and other islands.
